Tatyana Fazlalizadeh at Corridor Gallery Women Are Not Seeking Your Validation
Flash back to last month in Miami: at the 2nd or (3rd?) party after a full day of art-ing and I lost-count-of-how-many drinks, my friend ran into a friend (which happened a lot) and we were introduced. We chatted over the music, mostly about feminism (although I remember briefly and drunkenly discussing the anti-merits of Oklahoma). Afterward Shani told me I would like her art and I should look her up. I did…and was stunned/mortified/giddy that I had chatted up the creator of Stop Telling Women to Smile.
She is kind of everything (see here).
Anyway, she mentioned she had been working on a show opening soon, so naturally I FB stalked her and went to the opening. You can see why I’m the heart-eyes-emoji over her work:
